West Chester Men's Basketball Drops Season Opener To USP, 65-57

Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Keith Dundas poured in a game-high 22 points and Shane Conner added 13 to lead University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) to a 65-57 victory over West Chester in a non-league tilt inside Hollinger Field House in the season opener for both schools.

Kenneth St. George registered 20 points for the Golden Rams and Kehinde Roberts chipped in with 15, but it was not enough to overcome the visiting Devils.

Trailing 29-22 at half, West Chester came storming out of the locker room and scored the first 10 points of the second frame to take a 32-29 advantage. The Golden Rams would hold that lead until the 13:09 mark when Conner drained a 3-pointer to put the visitors up by two, 40-38.
A layup from St. George tied the score at 40 apiece, but the Devils went on a 16-7 run over the next 6 minutes, 20 seconds to open up a 56-47 lead that they would never relinquish. Dundas was instrumental over that span, accounting for 12 of USP’s 16 points.

West Chester narrowed the margin to six twice down the stretch, but could not get any closer. St. George fouled out of the game with 34 ticks remaining, and the Devils nailed both foul shots to make the score 65-57.

West Chester returns to the hardwood one week from Tuesday with an 8 p.m. non-league tilt at Wilmington College in Delaware.
